Chile's Colo Colo fields 14 year-old

Nicolas Millan became the youngest player to play in the Chilean championship when he made his professional debut for Colo Colo at the age of 14 on Sunday. Millan came on in the 79th during an away match at Santiago Wanderers when he replaced Felipe Mella. Shortly afterwards, Millan had a chance to score but fired his shot over the crossbar after being left unmarked in the penalty area...I sincerly hope that Nicolas Millan fairs better than D.C. United's Freddy Adu. That is to say, hopefully the pressure of advert schemes dosen't drown this young man. The M.L.S. has proved itself indubitably flawed in its inability to nurture the young talent of its once heralded golden boy. Currently our enfatuation with money serves only those who hump short term gains, while avoiding long term catastrophes, yet the issue isn't adressed: Immence stress placed upon the shoulders of our youth rob them firstly of joyful innocence and secondly of true perspective. I hope young Millan finds the back of the net more than the teeth of despair.
